Partner presentation: Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization active in the fields of information technology, materials, space resources and the environment. LIST develops competitive and market-oriented product/service prototypes for public and private stakeholders. It works across the entire innovation chain: fundamental/applied research, incubation, technology transfer. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.
Role of your organization in the project:
LIST’s main role in the Legofit project is to lead the work package dedicated to BIM-based open solutions for energy positive houses. This work package includes the different BIM-related services that make up the overall LEGOFIT platform and aims at developing these stand-alone services and make them interoperable in the BIM environment, thus facilitating their consistent implementation throughout the building life-cycle. Specifically, two digital technologies of LIST will be developed and applied to pilot cases:
- POESY (Post-Occupancy Evaluation SYstem) will allow to evaluate the satisfaction and comfort of the occupants in the LEGOFIT pilot sites before and after renovation.
- Digital Deconstruction will allow the analysis of deconstruction scenarios and their environmental assessment, as well as deliver the data needed for the material passport.
Why is Legofit important to your organization?
Legofit is an opportunity for LIST to contribute to the further development of its digital technology prototypes and to test them in different contexts, thus gradually increasing their TRL level.
It is also important to contribute to Horizon Europe projects, such as LEGOFIT, to collaborate with other EU research institutions and construction stakeholders, and to engage with innovative construction and renovation initiatives.
Additionally, LegoFit is an instrument which allows our institute to establish close links with the construction and renovation ecosystem in Luxembourg. The pilot house provided by SNHBM is a perfect case to bring our technologies like BIM, Building Energy simulations, Material passport, and Post-Occupancy Evaluation System to Luxembourg.
Expectations from LEGOFIT:
Knowledge sharing is important and helps us to tailor our technological developments to the needs of the renovation market. In addition, partnerships such as LegoFit are very valuable in directing our research results to address the societal challenges related to construction and housing across the EU, such as affordability and environmental performance, but also comfort and well-being.
